The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published today by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas fell on 05.4.2012 to US$ 121.58 per barrel (bbl), though it still rule at higher levels. The price previously computed/ published on 05.04.2012 based on trading figures of 03.04.2012, was US$ 123.39 per bbl.

In rupee terms, however the fall in crude oil price was not as pronounced on 5.4.2012 as price come down to Rs 6206.66 on 5.4.2012 against Rs 6238.60 per bbl on 03.04.2012. This was due to rupee depreciation with ?rupee-dollar exchange rate on 5.4.2012 at Rs 51.05 /US$ against Rs 50.56 /US$ on 03.04.2012.
